Every staff member at Play and Learn Preschool exceeds state-required training. We are also all certified in first aid and CPR. Many of our teachers have bachelor’s degrees, some are moms of past Play and Learn graduates, and all bring a patient heart to school every day. Combined, our staff has over 100 years of preschool teaching experience.
Twice a year, we send parents personalized progress updates that highlight each child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. We encourage parents to remain in close contact with our teachers throughout the year to ensure all milestones are achieved.

Play and Learn Preschool tailors several plans to accomodate the budgets of all families throughout the West Shore. Please contact Miss Gina in our office at (440) 835-2913 or playandlearnwestlake@gmail.com to learn more and review options.

We take care of the rest. All daily supplies are provided by Play and Learn.

We do not serve lunch, but each student can participate in our Lunch Bunch Program. Every Monday and Wednesday, we remain open until 1:00pm for your child to eat lunch with friends and get some more wiggles out before you pick them up.

Your child will need a packed lunch from home and payment each day. The cost is $10. We do also provide your child a snack every day, which is included in your tuition rate.

Our daily hours are 9:00am – 1:00pm (Monday and Wednesday) and 9:00am – 11:30am (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Classes run 9:00am – 11:30am each day. Lunch Bunch is 11:30am – 1:00pm (Monday and Wednesday).
Our school year runs September through May. While there are no classes during the summer, we remain open for tours. Please contact Miss Gina if you are interested in a tour.
We strictly adhere to low student-to-teacher ratios, 6:1 to 8:1. By keeping numbers low, we ensure your child receives personal attention and guidance from our teachers.
Along with our first aid and CPR certifications, we have additional safety measures in place. Please Note: Our doors remain locked during the day for security.
Our programs are designed for children ages 2.5 to 5+. Our school is currently divided into three age groups. Each group meets in their own classroom each day and enjoys their own age-appropriate curriculum.

Our educational process focuses on the whole child. And our learning path spans language arts (including some basic French), math, health and safety, science, as well as soft skills like manners and self-discipline.

We believe in a play-based approach to learning. Playful learning is one of the most studied theories in education. The research states it is the most effective way for young children to learn. And that through play, children develop not just academic skills, but also social, emotional, physical, and critical-thinking skills. At Play and Learn, we transform your child’s curiosity into confidence.

The children’s daily schedule is flexible enough to provide adaptability when necessary, but structured enough to provide predictability for the students. We want them to view their school as a safe, comforting place where they know what to expect and when to expect it.

A typical day would include: Arrival, Books, Puzzles, Table Work, Rug Time (includes Calendar, Pledge, Weather, Music), Group Lesson, Lesson Paper, Craft Project, Free Play (Once a week, each class will visit the Bike Room. The other days, we play in our classrooms.), Songs, Stories, Snacks (provided by Play and Learn), and Dismissal/Optional Lunch Bunch Program (Mondays and Wednesdays).

At Play and Learn, we love a good party. There is always something to celebrate. We have classroom parties for each major holiday (including our Thanksgiving Feast!), our annual Pumpkin Hunt, as well as our End of the Year celebration. We invite parents to participate in special events like our Parents Day, Halloween Costume Parade, as well as Christmas and Graduation Programs.

Play and Learn Preschool is housed within Dover Congregational Church in Westlake, but we are not a faith-based program. We welcome everyone at Play and Learn.

Play and Learn serves the entire region, not just Westlake. Our students come to us from all across the West Shore, including from Bay Village, Rocky River, North Olmsted, Fairview, Avon, Avon Lake, North Ridgeville, Lakewood, and several other cities in Northeast Ohio.

Yes, your child does need to be potty trained to attend our school. Each classroom has a child-sized bathroom attached to it to help your little one practice good habits.
Our Friday class is geared specifically for those students headed to kindergarten next year. It involves extra lessons in science, math, and reading readiness that help sharpen all the basic skills needed for kindergarten. Each week has a new theme and incorporates practice in different skill areas, such as numbers, letters, and beginning sounds.
